ToddMMA - UFC 105 'Couture vs Vera' Post Hugfest!

Photobucket
(Man this had me on the floor!)

Her we go. Fo' anybody wonderin' when my post UFC 105 video is gonna be up, wonder no longer. I already recorded it and just need to edit it. You might find yo'elf sayin "What the fuck you gonna do a Post UFC 105 blog, and video fo'!!!" I wouldn't blame you fo ponderin such, but some people like to read, and some people like to watch videos, and I ain't got shit to do this week so I workin on my vocab and writin stuff of the MMA kind.

Alexander Gustafsson:
Alright enough of the Todd banter. I got two words fo you! Alexander Gustafsson! Man I know I picked Jared Hamman to win this, but I also knew goin' into it winner of this fight would be a certified, on the brink of elite, contender at the 205. Although it's way too early to tell, my hunch is 3-4 fights from now people gonna be havin Gustafsson avatars all up on they favorite MMA site. If you live anywhere near Sweden that's probably already the case. Gustafsson showed one thing I thought Hamman was gonna show, and that's the eye of the tiger with willingness to engage. VERY RARELY do you see that in a fighter's octagon debut! Well Gustafsson had it, and Gustafsson won, and anyone they match this dude up with next better not take him lightly own they gonna catch the pain.

Andre Winner:
Andre seriously got some clean stand up and nice speed fo the MMA game. He looked like he was gettin' a little winded befo' he got the KO, but that can easily be fixed. I'd really like to see him get another fight with Pearson. I believe he could of won that previous fight, but shit just didn't go his way.

John Hathaway:
Man England's coming up! Seriously the stable of fighters they providing is startin to resemble what Cuba is to Major League Baseball. OK maybe it's not on that level. I'm halfway through some caffeinated as coffee, gimme a break...
No, but seriously. This dude gonna provide some problems at the welterweight division, and a GREAT matchup next would be "The Hitman" Hathaway vs Mike "Quick" Swick. That would be a nice addition to any card. Anyways, Hathaway improves to 12-0 with his win over Paul Taylor!

Mike Swick vs Dan Hardy:
They was a combination of things goin on with this fight. A combination of Swick underestimating and Hardy preparing fo WAR! Man seriously. I don't care if you were Dan Hardy's neighbor yo whole life, did you really think he was gonna outstrike the Quickinator? I don't think anyone did, but he did, and made all England proud! That's OK England! You won the battle... but you'll never take our freedom!!! HEHEH!
Michael Bisping vs Denis Kang:
Michael Bisping came out lookin' good, until he got immediately floored. That's when things started lookin bad. He got dropped by a much smaller Denis Kang, and was forced to fight from his back. Where Denis Kang went wrong was not forcin Bisping to stand back up after he put his brain on channel 67. Instead he happily jumped into guard!?!? C'mon MAN! The whole reason Kang was winnin was because of the explosiveness of his hands. Now he wants to attempt a submission game?

But they ain't no rewind in real life, and Kang proceeded to make mistakes. Bisping recovered his equilibrium while on his back, and nulified any ground attacks Kang had to offer. Second round came about, and if you give a guy like Bisping enough chances he's eventually gonna kick yo' ass. I know everyone thinks he annoyin' etc, etc but he is still a pretty solid fighter. Anyways, Bisping won by second round TKO, ain't no mystery. You guys saw it, and I was completely wrong in that prediction!

Randy Couture vs Brandon Vera:
Man I go over this in my video blog. I watched the updates of this fight live on Sherdog, and let me tell you. What I was readin, and what I eventually saw on video is as different as bat shit, and toaster struddles! Everyone gave this fight to Vera, so I just decided to watch to stay up to date, and be able to commentate on it.

In no way shape oh form should there be any controversy. Yes the judging system is flawed, but that's the system we have to go by and judging by that system Couture should have won this 30-27. Judging this by a PRIDE Fc scoring system, I would have given it 29-28 Couture.

In the UFC they have something called "octagon control". I don't like it, but it's there. I believe it should be replaced with "willingness to end a fight", but until the system is reformed we gotta deal with the rules put in place when Tito was champ, and those rules sure as shit favored his way of fighting.

Randy got dropped with a body kick. I know it, but other than that, and a few punches thrown by Vera from on top Randy won the rest of the round via "octagon control". In the 3rd round Vera landed some strikes, but no strikes went unanswered by Randy and I believe Vera even got rocked to the point where he smiled. That's when you know someone got rocked because they smile to kinda muffle the fact they brain got shook.

You know I'm not a Couture nutwaxer, and you know I'm not a Vera hater, but I definitely gotta give this fight to Randy. It wasn't too exciting with his "Hug n' Hold" game but he did what he had to do to win. Randy is a very similar fighter to Machida. They willing to deal with boring fights to get the win. It's not good from the fans perspective, but they thinkin' get the "W" get the fuck outta there.
